Abstract

The road vehicle windscreen wiper has two box like parts fixed to the windscreen and enclosing the mechanism. The mechanism has a continuous rotary movement and gives an alternating action, top to bottom. This is done via fork pieces joined to the wiper blade arms, carrying blades. The fork alternating movement consists of a double chain pinion fixed on a shaft and a second one (lower in the box) driven by a reduction gear. The two pinions are joined by a double chain. A ball bearing is mounted and is linked to a longitudinal slot in a fork. This causes the fork to move up and down alternately when the pinions revolve. Adjustment is provided to vary blade travel.
