Abstract

The magnetic recording/reproduction system for video signals, uses magnetic tape and a revolving head, in which the tape is driven at reproduction speed by a normal brushless motor, or alternately at a lower speed, in which the motor is driven by external pulses at a more uniform rate with lower power consumption. The drive motor has a rotor, a stator core carrying main windings of the side nearest the rotor, and a rotor position detector to detect the angular setting of the rotor, with a selector to feed the stator winding according to the rotor detection for fast speeds or from the external pulse source for lower speeds.
