Abstract

The guidance system is carried in a vehicle (ground or air borne) at a predetermined height above a horizontal conductor. A low frequency alternating current being passed through the conductor. The system uses a series connected measuring circuit (111,112,13,15,17) tuned to the low frequency, whose probe (11) is a cored solenoid (111) whose axis is perpendicular to the movement of the vehicle or moving body. Other components of the series circuit are an active passband filter (15) and a detector (13) whose output is a continuous voltage of valve proportional to the amplitude of the horizontal component of the magnetic field at each point of measurement. The system uses two such series connected measuring circuits whose probes (11,21) are arranged horizontally along the same axis. Their common axis being perpendicular to the direction of movement of the vehicle.
