Abstract

Anchorages are formed by (a) drilling a hole in rocky ground, (b) inserting an anchorage rod, and (c) filling the remaining space wholly or partly with concrete. Specifically the anchorage rod is sheathed in a tight-fitting sleeve of PVC. When the concrete filling is only partial, the sleeve would protect the bare metal not covered by concrete from corrosive attack, when the filling is complete, the rod can move within the PVC sleeve and so adapt itself to any localised stressed that may act on it.
