Abstract

The tool uses a lever actuated spring loaded slider for releasing tapered tool bits from recessed conical chucks. The slider moves axially in a tubular handle with a forked head. The fork is connected to the wedge shaft by a pin in a shaft slot. A spring loaded rocking lever is pinned to a further slot in the shaft end. Initial lever rotation causes the nose of the rocking lever to engage the slider and push it down the handle against a spring in the handle. Further lever rotation causes a nose on the rocking lever to ride a handle ramp and free the slider which strikes the wedge.
