Abstract
The rotary switch is built up from a series of wafers and it is intended for use with PCBs in particular. The switch is intended to provide a constant low contact resistance and high angular position accuracy. Each rotary switch unit consists of two stator contact carrying elements sandwiching a single rotor plate. The rotor contacts of the two stators together. Both rotor and stator are made of moulded plastics, the stator having its contacts cut from a metal core trapped in its surface during the moulding process. Positioning of the rotor is by two sprung rollers riding over a continuous series of arcs forming the circumference of the rotor moulding.
