Abstract

The valve is installed in a removable manner in a branch (14) of the ducting and consists of a spring (13) loaded, conical poppet valve (11), the shaft (10) of which is carried in a nut (12) which can slide axially in the support housing (3). Transversely mounted bimetallic strips (9) keep the nut at the bottom of the housing against the action of the spring and thus hold the valve open. When the fluid temperature rises, the strips bend outwards, away from the shaft and nut and eventually release the nut so that the valve closes. The strips are placed on the downstream side of the valve to take up their original position after the valve closes.
