Abstract

The flexible roof covering for sports arenas of the open top dome type is suspended by cables between an overhead beam and circumferentially disposed points around the dome. The covering is held taut by cables from the beam suspending metal rings in the fabric and passing to the outside support points via points at the periphery of the covering. A housing in the overhead beam contains pulleys for retracting and storing the covering. The result is a weather proof, lightweight protection which can be quickly placed and removed.
