Abstract

Process for the mechanised wiping of substrate edges when applying enamel or similar coatings, esp. on domestic crockery. The axis of rotation of the utensil is at approximately 90 degrees to the axis of rotation of the roller employed to wipe enamel off the edge of the utensil. The wiping motion is pref. applied from the front onto the edge of the utensil. Due to this configuration, the edge of the utensil no longer exerts a cutting action on the wiping roller so the working life of the roller is greatly increased; this means less frequent stoppage of the enamel coating machine; the elimination of repairs to a rubber belt formerly used and which has a very short life; and the overall result is savings in time, cost, and faulty workpieces.
