Abstract

The static mixer is used for mixing highly viscous liquid or molten material. The mixing element (2) arranged in the casing tube (1) consists of essentially planar deflectors (3), of which there are at least two arranged horizontally and two arranged vertically, each arranged crosswise with respect to one another, and which in the horizontal position of the casing tube on its longitudinal central axis (6) are joined in one point (11). The inclination of the deflectors is chosen in such a way that the inlet cross-section and the outlet cross-section of the casing tube is subdivided into eight subducts (10) which are of approximately equal size and which communicate along their long side within the casing tube by means of at least one absent lateral boundary with one or more adjoining sub ducts and each run diagonally in the axial direction of the casing tube. This ensures repeated subdivision of the total stream into individual streams, their rearrangement and recombination into a total stream combined with simultaneous and continuous cross-mixing and self-cleaning.
