Abstract

The irrigation system comprises a network of pipes buried in the ground and interconnected by feeders. Water is supplied to the pipes under a low pressure. The pipes are capped (12, 14) to form a closed circuit. Each pipe (10) is made from plastics or similar material and is split longitudinally (18) down the side. An area of mesh or matting (20) is folded into halves and the fold passed through the slit and held. The outside portions are spread out eac side. The mesh is rot proof and can conduct the water from the pipe interior by capillary action. This permits more even irrigation over a large area.
