Abstract

A Coupling particularly for joining sections of the tubular frame of an oil drilling platform has a coupling unit fitted to the end of one pipe (11) with an outwards extending ring flange (17) whose surface (18) facing the other pipe (12) runs inclined to the axis of one pipe. A second coupling unit (20) fits to the end of the second pipe, and has a counter surface (23) which, on coupling, comes in contact with the flange face on the first pipe. Around the periphery of the coupling and retained by the second coupling unit is a set of radial locking members. In their outer radial position they release the flange, and in their radial inner position they act on the flange rear surface turned away from the second pipe.
