Abstract

Battery accumulator comprises an assembly of cathodes, anodes and separators between them, embedded in a continuous mass of polymer. The polymer is methyl cellulose, CMC, PVA, an acrylic polymer etc. esp. regenerated cellulose obtd. from a soln. of viscose. Each electrode is pref. an electroactive cpd. fixed in the polymeric matrix, a conducting element serving as current collector being set into the matrix and the polymeric chain being connon to the neighbouring electrodes and the separator. The movement of soluble prodn. from one electrode to the other is prevented, thus avoiding short circinting. Thus the working life of the accumulators is prolonged.
