Abstract
Sphygmometer has means to apply a selectively variable pressure in the neighbourhood of a blood vessel. A device measures a fluctuating magnitude which is proportional to the sum of a time-dependent fluctuating component reproducing the pulsating pressure inside the bloodvessel and the selectively variable pressure applied externally to the blood vessel. The fluctuating magnitude is transformed into an electronic signal reproducing a time derivative for at least the fluctuating component of this magnitude. Another device analyses variations in the electronic signal derivative caused by changes in the applied pressure whilst a third device produces an output signal from the analyser indicating the physical condition of the subject under investigation.
