Abstract
An anti-tank mine has a body (1) which is inset into the ground, with a central hollow recess (2) above which is mounted a flexible rod (3) of metal or non metallic material, with one end free, which when contacted by a tank, explodes the mine. The effect of being contacted vibrates the rod, and the vibrations operate a control device which in turn explodes the mine. A transducer converts the mechanical vibrations into electrical signals, which are fed to a circuit including an analyser used to compare the length and magnitude of the signals with reference signals to activate the explosion. The rod can be coiled for mine laying by a suitable vehicle. The transducer may be at the bottom of or at the free end of the vibratory rod.
