Abstract

The device measures individual and differential temperatures of a new-born child and its mother from the moment of birth. Thermocouples (3) are positioned at the head of the foetus (1) using a cup shaped holder (2). A flexible support arm is mother's vaginal base. Two separate thermocouples (3, 5) may be used; in this case a switching system is used to select the appropriate information. Two thermocouples may be connected in series, in which case a direct difference measurement can be made.
