Abstract
The flap (15), when in its r tracted position forms part of the upper surface of the leading edge of the aircraft wing. The flap (9) is retracted to form part of the lower surface of the leading edge of the aircraft wing. A hydraulic jack actuates the rod (17) which rotates the lever (19) in a clockwise direction which in turn operates the links (23, 35, 7, 29). This operation results in the flap (15) being pushed forwards and rotated through 5 from its retracted position. At the same time the flap (9) is swung from its retracted position through an angle of 150 so that an aerodynamic slot is formed between the two flaps.
