Abstract

The hot press with peripheral refrigeration (3) to handle a range of workpiece is used for hot press bonding of timber units for industrialised buildings. A workpiece of greater length than the press is hot pressed in a series of successive abutting lengths. The peripheral refrigeration units (3) give precise definition to the length under the heated press, for uniformity of bonding. The press may have upper (1) and lower (2) horizontal and heated plate, brought together vertically by jacks (5). The refrigeration units are oil cooled bands (3) built onto the edges of the heated press plates (1, 2). The workpiece components may be bonded dry or with thermal adhesive.
