Abstract

Products with enzymatic activity are produced by reacting an enzyme with a polymer contg. both free aldehyde gps and free acid gps. The products have variable solubility i.e. they can be used to carry out enzyme-catalysed reaction-in a homogeneous liq. medium but are readily sepd from the medium after reaction by adjusting the pH. The polymer is pref. a copolymer of acrolein and acrylic acid contg 10% free aldehyde gps and >=5% free acid gps. the latter based on the total content of free aldehyde and acid gps. The enzyme is pref. trypsin. The products are pref. prepd by mixing the enzyme and polymer in a buffer soln. (esp. pH8), precipitating the product and filtering it off.
