Abstract

A pyrometer consists of flexible optical fibres for conveying the radiation to a detector and a mechanical switch for moving each optical conductor in turn opposite the detector. Calibration of the pyrometer is easier since there is only one detector. The size of the pyrometer is also reduced. The pyrometer is esp. useful for observing the cooling of a continuously cast ingot.
