Abstract
Cloudy water contg. clay or other foreign bodies is purified by adding polyvalent metal ions and a polyaminomethacrylate (I) to the water and aerating at a pH of 6-10. The process is esp. applicable to the effluent from the mining and paper-producing industries. The process is fast and effective and as the flotation rate of the flocs is greater than the sedimentation rate using conventional processes, large amts. of effluent can be handled in small capacity plant.
