Abstract

A consumable prod. such as tobacco or food comprises a small amt., sufficient to modify the taste or aroma, of a cpd. of formulae (I) or (II): (each R is H or is not >6C alkyl, alkenyl or acyl). Pref. they are added at 0.0005-1 wt. % in tobacco and 0.00001-0.1 wt. % in food. For treating all types of natural or synthetic tobacco to impart a sweet aroma or perfume and a hazelnut taste. The additives may also be included in cigarette papers, cigar wrappers, filters etc. and added to solid foods or beverages e.g. hot chocolate beverages.
