Abstract

Method of labelling proteins with 99 mTc involves reducing a pertechnetate and contacting fibrinogen and/or one ore more immunoglobulins with the reduced pertechnetate in the redn. is preformed in presence of reducing agent at pH 11-12, and that the protein marked with the 99mTc in the mixt. is purified to eliminate possible degradation products of the protein and also uncombined technetium. Previous chemical methods of labelling with 99mTc by redn. with SnCl2 or ferrous ascorbate have given reduced pertechnetate of decreased solubility. Electroytic reduction is insufficiently selective and require costly appts. e.g. zirconium electrodes. The new process is selective, gives good yields and the products are stable. Product is used in diagnosis of arthritis, thromboses and tumours.
