Abstract

A vehicle safety belt monitoring system has a control unit energised when the ignition is on. This receives information on the position of the gear lever whether belt buckles are connected and which seats are occupied. This is fed into an intergrating unit. An alarm visual or audible, connects with the control unit through a modulator. An impulse generator and a time delay are also in the circuit. The gear lever being in neutral, the alarm is steady until all buckles close. The alarm is then short circuited. If conditions are incorrect, the alarm flashes and, after a delay, emits a steady signal.
