Abstract

The table with a height adjustable top (4) includes a lever (21) operated mechanism which locks the top in the raised position. Laterally opposed twin scissor-frames (5, 6) are used to raise the table top. The ends of the members forming the scissor frames are joined by transverse bars (14). One pair of lower scissor frame member ends is fixed to the table frame by means of pin joints (11). The other pair (9) may slide longitudinally on fixed tracks (10). A coil spring (16) may be used to aid the lifting of the table top. One end of the spring may be fixed to the slidable leg ends (9) of the scissor frames. The other end of the spring may be pinned (18) to the table frame (1). The first spring anchorage may comprise a screw adjustable stirrup (17) which is fitted on the traverse (14) between leg ends.
