Abstract

Fluorescent image-intensifying screens for X-ray pictures comprise particles of a fluorescent material dispersed in a binder layer, and distributed over the surface are a number of protruding parts, at least the surface of which have a static coefficient of friction against steel of less than 0.50 at room temp. Used for increasing the image density of X-ray pictures against silver halide emulsion films without increasing the intensity of the X-ray radiation. The screens are esp. useful in high speed X-ray machines in which the film and intensifying screen are subjected to rapid mutual movement which with prior art intensifying screens can give rise to white friction marks known as 'drop outs' on the surface of the film.
