Abstract

An electric lock system contains an override mechanism which allows the immobilising of the rotating cylinder (115) of the lock and an electro-magnet (121) cooperating with this mechanism to activate or deactivate it. The magnet is designed so that if the electric current is cut off for any reason such as a fire, it immediately frees the override mechanism, so that the door to which the lock is fitted can be pushed open. The control circuit of the electro-magnet includes an electric calculated delay mechanism which cuts the supply to the magnet for a pre-determined length of time aftera control button (166) has been pressed. This mechanism is released once the door has been opened.
