Abstract

In an extrusion/blow moulding equipment, the extruder is mounted independently of the moulding tools. The extruder can be moved on rails to allow ancillary equipment to be interposed between the extruder and the moulding tools. The appts. is used esp. for moulding containers from material which has been oriented and/or annealed, e.g. to enhance strength or transparency. It is adaptable for processing a variety of different materials of grades of a material. The equipment pref. prepares parisons for loading a series of moulds mounted on a vertical rotor and offloading to a complementary, cynchronised rotor which transfers the mouldings to deflashing/filling/capping/labelling units, etc. The mould opening cycle is controlled by twin vertical circular cam tracks tailored to suit particular material/moulding combinations. The cooling and annealing cycles cana be adjusted by controlling the speed of rotation of the mould rotor, etc. The mould tools may be fitted with multiple inflation points, on either side of the parting line.
