Abstract

An agricultural and horticultural fungicidal compsn. comrpises 2-chloroethylphosphonic acid ("ethephone") is added to agricultural and horticultural fungicide as a synergist. Though ethephone itself is known as a plant growth regulator, it has no fungicidal action and has very low toxicity. By adding a small amt. of ethephone to a prior fungicide, even half the amt. of the effective ingredient exhibits a sufficient fungicidal action. This agent is sufficiently effective with half the spraying time of the prior chemicals. This compsn. is markedly effective against both storage diseases and soil diseases. Since the amt. of fungicide used can be greatly reduced, this compsn. is useful in view of the economical effect and natural environment. In an example, methyl-1-(butylcarbamoul)-2-benzimidazole-carbamate 50 pts., 35 pts. of clay, 10 pts. of carplex (made by Shionogi), 2 pts. of Sorpol 5039, and 3 pts. of lignin were mixed homogeneously and ground. This was diluted with water to give a fixed concn.
