Abstract

Air filter for internal combustion engine includes an independent housing upstream of the air inlet to the engine, this housing contg. a number of parallel channels each with an S-shaped wall and with air inlets and outlets respectively at opposing curved portions of the S-shape at the front and rear sections. A planar intermediate portion is parallel to the inlet and outlet channels the lower end of each intermediate portion running into the rear end of each S-shaped wall so that chambers are formed adjacent to each outlet patch in which the dust particles contained in the air flow collect, these chambers being in a direct line in relation to the inlet direction of air flow. The initially dust laden air and subsequently dust free air takes a S shaped path through the system.
