Abstract
The brushless rotary frequency converter has a single control shaft running in ball races, carrying a rotor winding (g) centrally with a second rotor winding (3) spaced axially from it. Each rotor has a corresponding stator winding. The supply frequency is fed to the second stator (d) winding providing an output in its rotor winding which is then fed to the central rotor winding. The final output is taken from the central stator (f) so forming a two stage converter, the number of poles in the individual windings is chosen to provide the desired output frequency. The converter is driven from a winding on the same shaft and casing.
