Abstract

A solar heating system has glass panels (2) inset into an opening in a roof, with a set of channels (5) underneath, with the heating cells (3) in the bottoms of the channels. Underneath the channels is an insulation layer (4). Each channel has two sloping sides (6a, b) and a flat base with the heating cell resting on it. The two sides are mirrors on reflecting material, and the base is also of reflective material. The angle of the roof and that of the sloping sides of the channels are specified to give optimum results for various geographical regions, and also for different times of the year. Angles are specified for a solar heating system mounted on a vertical wall. Another design using zigzag reflecting elements positioned in the bottoms of the channels is also given.
