Abstract

An appts. for filtering, drying and cooling fluids in the form of condensable vapours or mists at the top of a column consists of smooth panels of metal or plastic in which are holes formed by pushing out a portion of the panel so that the part pushed out makes an angle with the rest of the panel, giving an oblique hole. The holes are in quincunx relationship, and their size and sepn. form films by condensn. on the panels. The panels are arranged in pairs several mm from one another, so that the holes are head to tail. They are inclined at a slope ensuring the flow of condensate into gutters. The device gives a film flow of condensate and is flexible in that the number and sepn. of the holes and panels can be adapted for a partic. duty.
