Abstract
Refractory bricks for the internal linings of metallurgical furnaces, have their backs, or the part fixed to the furnace casing, reduce in wt. by cavities which reduces the width of the brick and provide a longitudinal buttress of support against the internal surface of the furnace casing, so that the wt. of the refractory lining is reduced together with its cost. Each brick is pref. lightened by reducing its dorsal width by about half along the entire length of the brick and for about one-third of its height. Reduces the cost of lining and relining cylindrical, vertical or horizontal furnaces and rotary furnaces.
