Abstract
A cyclone-shaped contactor employing an internal agitator uses mechanical force to produce intimate mixing with a gas or gas/solid suspension. Subsequently centrifugal action induced by the agitator tends to separate the gas from other phases present before discharge from the device. Method is for gas-liquid contacting applications generally either directly, e.g. for dust removal, scrubbing etc. or indirectly to assist heat transfer e.g. heat recovery.
