Abstract

The box used for the mechanisation of the operation involved in the growing of plants from seed up to transplanting. The sides of the box are sloped so as to form the section of a pyramid with a rectangular base. The smaller base of the pyramid consists of an upper plate which has 4 rows of parallel holes forming the openings to tapering flower pots. These, together with the sides, form a single moulding in plastic. The pots consist of plates, held together at the centre by a belt and joined together by a round bottom, which has a round drainage hole and slots enabling the plant to be removed by a special machine. The box has no bottom and the pots are shorter than the sides so that the boxes can be stacked for storage.
