Abstract

The method is for the determination of soil resistivity. The resistivity measuring cell (1) comprises a tub (2) divided into a compartment (3) in which a sample (13) is placed and two reservoirs (4, 5) separated from the compartment by semipermeable metallic partitions (6, 7) with perforations (8) at the bottom. Two measuring electrodes (10, 11) are located in the sample and are connected to a voltmeter (12). The semipermeable partitions are connected in series with a power supply (19) and ammeter (14). Resistivity is calculated from the voltmeter and ammeter readings and the length and cross sectional area of the compartment. The reservoirs permit addition or drainage of water.
