Abstract

The process of fabricating aluminium section door and window frames with curves (8) in the frame corners entails providing the members with sufficient flange depth to accommodate the curve and cutting or milling the surplus away, to obtain an aesthetic result. The additional flange depth is pref provided locally in the corner areas, and with frame members joined on 45 deg. mitred surface (7) the theoretical additional flange depth (a) is equal to the distance between the point of intersection (13) of the mitre plane (7) with the curve (8) and its member parallel tangent (11). In practice a greater additional thikness (12) than the theoretical is provided.
