Abstract

Appts. gives moving fabric webs a washing or cleaning process, particular knitted fabrics, to remove oil, resin, dirt and other substances. The equipment incorporates a number of separated tanks containing fluid, with overflows between each and a flow control between each tank and the overflow zones. Each tank has an assembly of paddle wheels and powered rollers for the fabric to follow a serpentine path through the tank. Between each station there are squeeze rollers, spray rods and speed synchronisation, with a spreading roller and vacuum slit at the outlet of the unit to remove surplus fluid. The system gives a positive cleaning action on sensitive fabrics, without damaging their character and structure, in a continuous process.
