Abstract

A conveyor for breaking up fibre bodies comprises parallel endless chains between which extend transverse conveyor segments having apertures through which cutters or teeth intermittently project to engage the bales supported on the segments. As the cutters or teeth are withdrawn through the windows they tear off fibres from the bales. The device is particularly good for breaking up bales of synthetic fibres which because of their physical properties are difficult to break up.
