Abstract

In a multiple head irradiating device, partic. for use in radiotherapy, of the known type comprising a hyperfrequency generator permitting a hyperfrequency signal of pre-determined power to be obtained, and means permitting the acceleration of a particle beam, (a) the (n) irradiating heads, mounted on (n) arms which can move around an axis are associated respectively with (n) particle accelerators (b) >=1 switch with (n) posns. is located at the outlet of the hyperfrequency generator (c) means for permitting the successive injection of the hyperfrequency signal having one of the (n) outlets of the n-position switch into one of the (n) particle accelerators associated with the particular irradiating head selected and (d) safety systems are provided to ensure control of the start of operation of the accelerator corresponding to the pre-selected position of the switch and the start-up of the hyperfrequency generator. Provides improves safety since the particle beam itself is not switched from one treatment room to another as in known system but each room is associated with a particle accelerator supplied with h.f. energy from a common generator.
