Abstract
The system uses a rectangular signal produced by lopping the peaks off a microphone signal. Before doing so, an auxiliary alternating signal of relatively small amplitude is added to it. A Schmitt bridge can be used to transform the composite signal into a rectangular one, and the degree of lopping achieved by the bridge can be less in absolute value than the minimum amplitude of the microphone signal to be transmitted. The amplitude of the auxiliary signal can be between the lopping level and the minimum microphone signal amplitude. The auxiliary signal can be at inaudible frequency.
