Abstract

A fleshing machine for scraping skins and hides includes a rigid carrier beam which supports a deformable pneumatic element and fixes it in the centre. Double-acting hydraulic cylinders are arranged at the outer ends to deform the element to a concave or convex shape as the skin passes between it and scraper tool roller. The adjustable deformation of the supporting element protects the side portions of a skin which have not as compact a structure as the middle parts. These side portions are best treated with a concave supporting element, and the force and rear leg portions by a straight or convex shape.
