Abstract

Automatic engraving of preselected patterns in a workpiece, using a mechanical driven tool which is simultaneous positioned along two or more independent spindles. Two or more engraving tools are in turn adjusted to an operative position w.r.t. the workpiece. Engraving of the pre-selected patterns is controlled by positioning elements comprising pulse driven step motors. Reversible components have linear variable differential transformers with central positioned in axial direction displaceable coils with probe elements which contact the workpiece surfaces. The tools comprise milling cutter wheels for the straight line pattern, and planing tools for the curved lines of the pre-determined pattern.
