Abstract

Each rigid shell does not need to fit accurately against the portion of body, limb or head treated. The inflatable pocket can be preformed to suit the general contours of the area treated. The openings formed in the two faces of the pocket can be joined together by accordion-shaped tubes, allowing expansion of the pocket assembly. Cutaneous respiration can take place via the pocket and the tubes, connected to apertures in the rigid shell. The design improves inflation of the pocket without the rick of distortion or fold formation at the welding points, also avoiding cavities round the ventilation apertures.
