Abstract

The device continuously measures the thickness of a component in the course of machining by a rotating active tool. A hollow tool holder is provided in which, at a small distance from the end of the tool there is an ultrasonic radiation measurement system. A fluid passing the radiation is constantly flowing across the tool holder, in the space between the measurement system and the component, and escapes between it and the tool. This fluid can possess cooling and lubrication properties.
