Abstract

Continuous synthetic yarns, such as of viscose, are transferred from a spinning and finishing process to a winding station using a tube carrying the yarn in an airstream, the end of the tube being fitter with a cap with an opening in the centre of the base of the cap, and an aperture in the cap side wall which is of larger dimensions than the base aperture. The structure and positioning of the side aperture directs the outlet of the airstream ensuring that the yarn is centered in the tube, without incurring friction damage through contact with the interior of the tube.
