Abstract
The control method is intended for the drive of stepping motors, in which the field windings are excited by a series of pulses for each step of the rotor, so that a rotating field circulates at constant angular velocity with a switching frequency (fsl) to start the revolution of the field, until at a given time (tl) the angular frequency of the rotor has reached a maximum. At this instant the switching frequency is doubled, whilst the rotor angular frequency remains constant. To hold the rotor at a given position at time joint (t2), the switching frequency is reduced to a lower value and interrupted at a time joint (t3), at which point the rotor stops without oscillation. The time joint (t3) differs from (t2) by half a period, and the control equipment is provided with electrical means to compensate attenuation. The switching frequencies are high compared to the natural frequency of the stepping motor.
