Abstract

Preheated water is allowed to flow gradually to the coffee or tea production to be extracted, which is accommodated in a vessel (1) so constructed that when a predetermined quantity of water has been delivered the infusion is automatically drawn off by siphon action. The siphoning off can be as fast or faster than the rate at which water is delivered, and a filter can be provided to separate the infusion drawn off from the product from which it has been extracted. A siphon tube has an adjustable height. The vessel can be in two separate parts one above the other and separated by the filter, the lower part being smaller than the upper one but large enough to accommodate the siphon tube inlet.
