Abstract

Decoding of chrominance information in secam colour television systems is performed at the receiver by a circuit ensuring positive action when identification lines are present. Automatic amplitude limiting ensures correct colour saturation and a matrix circuit ensures automatic balancing of colour tint. The chrominance subcarrier signal input passes through a tuned circuit to a gate and there through a delay channel and direct channel in parallel to a permutator. This receives a signal from the tuned circuit via gating circuits to provide a synchronisation signal when identification lines are present. During this time short circuits are opened to allow signals on the two channels to pass through to a mixer from adjustable limiters and gates and modulation extractors. Luminance signals are mixed with the signals prior to passing through triple level controlled amplifiers.
